Helen C. Walters
BRADFORD- Helen C. Walters, 90, of Chapel Ridge, 200 Francis Dr., passed away Saturday (Apr. 29, 2017) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born December 21, 1926, in Transylvania County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of William T. and Ruby Bradley Caldwell. On Aug. 2, 1975, in Port Allegany, she married William H. Walters, who died Dec. 22, 2001.
Helen was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of Coudersport High School, class of 1944. After her marriage to William, she worked with him in his business, Peterson Greenhouse in Springdale, PA.
Mrs. Walters was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Bradford, where she was a member of the Lutheran Church Women. She was also an avid gardener.
Surviving are two sons, B. Michael (Rhonda) Pfeil of Ashville, NY, Thomas A. (Rebekah) Pfeil of Bradford; two daughters, Gladys M. Phillips of Pittsburgh, PA, Mary A. Pfeil of Troy, PA; seven grandchildren: Thomas Phillips, Jennifer Bronson, Jason and Benjamin Pfeil, Calvin, Christina and Kate Pfeil; two great-grandchildren: Lydia Pompa, and Drew Bronson; a brother, Ralph (Margaret) Caldwell of Coudersport; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, William, she was preceded in death by six brothers: Ernest, Charles, William, Herbert, James and Frank Caldwell; and a sister, Geneva Runyan.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Monday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Bradford, with Rev. Rob Louw, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
