Harold J. "Hal" BAUMANN

Harold J. "Hal" BAUMANN, 94, of Coudersport, PA, formerly of Honeoye Falls, NY, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in his home. Born March 18, 1917, in Rochester, NY, he was the son of Michael and Pauline Weissend Baumann. A 1934 graduate of Aquinas Institute in Rochester and a 1939 graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Hal served with the Civilian Conservation Corps. During World War II, he was employed in war effort by Rochester Products, a division of General Motors. On December 19, 1942, in Rochester, NY, he married the former Christine Neefe, who survives. Mr. Baumann was employed as an appraiser by First Federal Savings and Loan for many years. In retirement, he and his wife moved to Potter County in 2000 to spend their sunset years. He was a member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church in Coudersport, the Susquehannock Trail Club, and the Genesee Valley Hiking Club. He enjoyed bowling, biking, hiking, canoeing, dancing, playing the harmonica, and was an ardent sports fan. Surviving besides his wife, Christine, are: a son, R. Wayne Baumann of Coudersport; two daughters, Sandra Hayner of Olympia, WA and Loren (Joel) Taylor of Rochester, NY; a granddaughter, Carly (Ross) Kamm of Chicago, IL. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine Miller; and a niece. Friends may call at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA on Friday, November 11, 2011 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM. The Rev. James C. Campbell will preside. Burial will be Sweden Hill Cemetery, Coudersport, PA. The family gratefully declines flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Potter County Hospice, c/o Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA 16915 or a charity of the donor's choice.
