G. Velma Jestes
ROULETTE- G. Velma Jestes, 98, of Card Creek Rd., passed away Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2012) in the Charles Cole Mem. Hospital, Coudersport.
Born June 22, 1914, in Roulette Township, PA, she was a daughter of Clayton N. and Bertha Marschner Baker. On Nov. 1, 1941, in Burtville, PA, she married J. Boyd Jestes, who died Mar. 4, 2007.
Mrs. Jestes was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Roulette High School.
She was a member of the Sartwell Creek Union Church, Burtville, and was active in the former Burtville Grange.
Mrs. Jestes was a lifelong homemaker devoted to her husband, children, and extended family.
Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn G. Jestes of Roulette; two sons, Chad N. (Jill Harding) Jestes of Houston, TX, Brian B. (Lubov Martinvoa) Jestes of Oak Ridge, TN; five grandchildren, Nathaniel, Michael, Daniel, Alexander, and Alyssa Jestes; two stepgrandcildren, Katelyn Cox and Raymond Stone; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Donald, Harold, Merl, and Berwyn Baker.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 6, 2012) in the Sartwell Creek Union Church, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. LaVerne Howard, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette.
Memorials can be made to the Sartwell Creek Union Church, Card Creek Cemetery, or the Port Allegany Community Services-( food bank).
