Grace E. VanHorn
AUSTIN- Grace E. VanHorn, 89, formerly of Austin, passed away Sunday (Sept. 11, 2011) in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Couderpsort.
Born November 29, 1921, in Larabee, PA, she was a daughter of Arthur and Flora Burroughs Burrows. On Oct. 20, 1940, in Larabee, PA, she married Raymond W. VanHorn, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. VanHorn worked several places; the Munitions Plant, Eldred, during WWII, Olean Tile Plant, and most recent, Viko Furniture Co. of Eldred.  She also sold Avon products for many years to area residents.
She was a lifetime resident of the area and a member of the Keating Summit Methodist Church.
She enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo.
Surviving are four sons, Raymond A. VanHorn and Alvin L. (Kim) VanHorn both of Austin, Richard L. (Peg) VanHorn of Trexlertown, PA, and James F. (Starr) VanHorn of Coudersport; three daughters, Donna G. (Paul) Lathrop of Crosby, PA, Florence A. (John) Schwartz of New Stanton, PA, and Carol V. Free of Upper Black Eddy, PA; 24 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren; and three sisters, Dorothy McClain and Marjorie Ryder both of Eldred, and Laura Jane Bacha of Duke Center; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin Burrows, LaVerne Burrows, Paul Burrows; and four sisters, Mabel Dietz, Cordeila Snyder, Marguerite Chase, and Marian Raszmann.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 14, 2011) with Rev. Harold Kiel, pastor of the Bingham Center Bible Church, officiating. Burial will be in Portage Valley Cemetery, Wrights.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or Keating Summit Methodist Church.
