Grace Jean Hoover

BETULA- Grace Jean Hoover, 94 of Attica, OH, formerly of Betula, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2024) at The Willows of Willard.

Born January 7, 1930, in North Baltimore, OH, she was a daughter of Bernard and Lois Wilson Fleckner. On June 5, 1949, she married Clifford Hoover, who died on Apr. 2, 1993. He was the love of her life. They met at BGSU after being set up on a blind date, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Grace was a cafeteria supervisor in the school system in her adopted city of Smethport. After that she was primarily a homemaker, and loved to garden. She grew vegetables and she was also a good cook, and fed her family, and also a group of hunters who came by every year during hunting season. She fed them all and packed lunches for them and many still corresponded with her. She was an amazing seamstress as well and made various articles of clothing, but her greatest source of pride was making two wedding dresses and the bridesmaid dresses for two lucky brides. She was a woman of many talents and was quite accomplished. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

Surviving is a son, Stephen (Crystal) Hoover of Attica, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford, and a daughter Constance Hoover.

Friends will be received Monday (Dec. 9, 2024) from 1-2 p.m. in the Hanneman Funeral Home, Attica, OH.

Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2024) in the Birch Grove Mennonite Church, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dale Detweiler, pastor officiating.  Burial will be in Norwich Township Cemetery, Colegrove.

Local funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
