SMETHPORT-Gordon G. Burdick, 86, of route 46, passed away Sunday (June 29, 2014) in Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport.
Born June 10, 1928, in Betula, PA, he was a son of Guy E. and Pearl Gallup Burdick.  On Mar. 19, 1949, in Emporium, PA, he married Mildred Johnson, who survives.
Gordon was an accountant for several years with Airco Spear Carbon & Graphite Co. of St. Mary’s, PA, and most recently a field representative for the American Kennel Club before his retirement.
Mr.. Burdick was a veteran having served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Smethport High School, Class of 1947, and also a graduate of Bryan & Stratton Business College and St. Bonaventure University both of Olean, NY.
Gordon was a member of the United Methodist Church, Smethport, where he was a former trustee.  He was a member of the F. & A.M. McKean Lodge 388, Smethport, where he was past Master and past District Deputy Grand Master, Tuna Valley 76, York Rite College, Potter Council, 63, where he was Past Thrice Illustrious Master, Potter Commandery 69, where he was Past Eminent Commander, both of Coudersport, Arnold Chapter, 254, Port Allegany, where he was past High Priest, Knights of York Cross of Honor, Pittsburgh, Coudersport Consistory, where he was 33 Degree, and past Commander & Chief, Zem Zem Temple Shrine, Erie, PA, McKean County Shrine Club, and Odd Fellows, Lodge 389, Smethport, where he was past Double Grand.  He was a member and director of the former McKean County Beagle Club, Lafayette, for many years.
Gordon’s life consisted of dedication and commitment to many organizations.
Surviving in addition to his wife Mildred, are a son, Guy A. (Julie) Burdick of Smethport, a granddaughter, Morgan Burdick, a grandson, Kyle Davis and a great-grandson, Nick Davis; a sister, Ramona King of Lansing, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold Burdick and baby boy Burdick.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (July 3, 2014) in the United Methodist Church, Smethport, with Rev. Rob Hernan, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Norwich Cemetery, Crosby.
A masonic service be held at 7:30 p.m.  and an Odd Fellows service will follow at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
The Smethport Honor Guard will conduct a military service immediately following the memorial service at the Church.
Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Church or McKean Lodge 388, Memorial Fund.
