Gladys H. STAMP, 94, of Coudersport, PA, formerly of Conesus, NY, passed away on September 15, 2014 at Sweden Valley Manor after a brief illness. Born March 8, 1920 in Conesus, NY, she was the daughter of the late Fred E. and Eva Flint Henty. On June 18, 1955, at the residence of her parents, she married Farley L. Stamp, who predeceased her on August 08, 1984. Gladys resided in Conesus, NY and Rochester, NY until August 12, 1973 when she and her husband retired to Coudersport, PA. Upon graduation from Geneseo State Teachers College, Gladys taught lower grades in a one room school house in Conesus, NY. Later she moved to Rochester where she worked as a buyer for a McCurdy Department store and then at Lawyers Coop, from which she retired at the time of her marriage. Gladys, a fastidious housekeeper, enjoyed her daily two mile walks until arthritis curtailed them, the company of her cat Reilly and most importantly reading her Bible and doing her daily devotions. Gladys was a member and past officer of Sweden Valley Faith Community United Methodist Church, a previous member and officer of Conesus Congregational Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are: Michael Myers, Romayne Myers, Lee Irish and Louise Plumley, all of Coudersport; two nieces, Sharon Harris and Sandra Berquist; and one nephew, Dean (Jo) Henty. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother Francis R. Henty on November 11, 1989. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, September 19, 2014 in the Sweden Valley Faith Community United Methodist Church, Sweden Valley, PA. Rev. Steven Small and Rev. Tom Shatto will co-officiate. Burial will be in Arnold Cemetery, Conesus, NY. Flowers are gratefully declined.
