Geraldine Z. Moses
PORT ALLEGANY - Geraldine Z. Moses, 91, of N. Brooklynside Rd., passed away Saturday (July 7. 2018) in Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport.
Born October 31, 1926, in Emporium, she was a daughter of Emery and M. Cleo Smith Lewis. On Sept. 28, 1946, in Port Allegany, she married Donald L. Moses, who died May 8, 1988.
Geraldine was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Eldred High School, class of 1944.
Mrs. Moses had worked at Backus Novelty while in high school, and later with Sylvania Co. (now GTE) formerly of Emporium.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Allegany, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years, and the Baptist Women’s Union (now known as ABW). She was a lifetime member of the Star Hose Ladies Auxiliary, member of the Tri-County Auxiliary, GOP Women, Friends of the Library, and the 500 Card Club. She also volunteered with the local Blood Bank and Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are five children, two daughters, Sandra L. (Gayle) Austin and Lora L. (William) Stickles both of Smethport; three sons, Bruce E. (Patty) Moses of New Eagle, PA, Dennis E. (Melody) Moses and Martin L. (Paula) Moses both of Port Allegany; 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Lewis of Port Allegany; three sisters-in-law, Rachel Lewis of Coudersport, Ruth Holden of Cuba, NY, and Ann Lewis of Port Allegany; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death of her parents, husband, Donald, a grandson, Damen Moses, a great-grandson, Ty Moses, a great-granddaughter, Jessica Jakubac; a sister, Bonnie Bonawitz, 5 brothers, Cletus, Charles, Eugene, Vernon, and Ronald Lewis.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Monday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday (July 10, 2018) in the First Baptist Church, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Culver, pastor, and Rev. Bruce Moses, son, co-officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church or Star Hose Ladies Auxiliary.
