Gerald L. Bosworth
PORT ALLEGANY- Gerald L. Bosworth, 79, formerly of Burtville, passed away October 9, 2016, in Tampa FL, with his family by his side.
Born March 10, 1937 in Port Allegany, he was a son of RT and Nina Vanocker Bosworth. He married Patricia Hockman, who survives.
Gerald attended school in Port Allegany and served in the US Navy.
He worked for Pierce Glass, now Ardaugh, for 30 years, before his retirement. He also owned and operated Jerry’s General Store and Post Office in Burtville.
Mr. Bosworth enjoyed playing pool, cards, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by a son, Jerry (Cathleen) Bosworth of Port Allegany; three daughters, Roxane (Jeff) Gould and Nina (Charlie) Dawley both of Bradford, Jennifer Bosworth of Tampa, FL; a stepson, Keith Caulkins of Denver, CO; and a stepdaughter, Polly (Ken) Lannager of Port Allegany; a brother, Leonard (Patricia) Bosworth of Emporium; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, E. Joanne Silvis, a daughter, Rhonda Bosworth, a stepdaughter, Betsy Caulkins; three brothers, Homer, Richard, and Eugene Bosworth; and a sister, Jacqueline Gaylord.
Friends will be received from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday (Mar. 14, 2017) in the Veteran’s Memorial Home, Port Allegany, where a memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Michael Culver, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Bells Run Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Veteran’s Memorial Home, Port Allegany, or the American Cancer Society.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
