George Branham
SMETHPORT- George Branham, 78, formerly of Olean and Eldred, passed away Friday (Jan.4, 2019) in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.
Born August 1, 1940, in Camden, SC, he was a son of Fletcher and Alma Craft Branham. On Sept. 6, 1969, in Salamanca, NY, he married Virginia Butler, who died Aug. 20, 2008.
Mr. Branham worked for Dress Clark Co., Olean NY, for several years, before his retirement.
George was a longtime resident of the area and attended the First Church of God, Eldred, PA. He was a member of F.& A.M. Liberty Lodge 505, Port Allegany.
Surviving are three sons, Donald W. (Anna) Branham of Mt. Holly, NC, Lewis W. Shaw of Eldred, PA, Ronnie G. Branham of Kershaw, SC; nine daughters, Debra L. (Mark) Bish of Smicksburg, PA, Robin A. (Ronald) Doughty of Antrim, NH, Carolyn W. Hewett of Walton, IN, Tina L. (Frank) Moy of Hillsboro, NH, Denise A. (Scott) Brown, of Duke Center, Judith M. Tierson of Eldred, PA, Mary J. Scott, and Sharon L. (Donald) Coast both of Portville, NY, and Shirley J. Freeman of Kershaw, SC; 25 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; a brother, James Branham of Rockhill, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, a daughter, Marilyn K. Greer, four brothers, Roy, Bobbie, Oliver and Clarence Branham; and three sisters, Mildred Stevenson, Ruby Price, and Patricia Bowers.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 2 p.m., Sunday (Jan. 6, 2019) in the First Church of God, Eldred, with Rev. James Kazimer, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
