Eugene C. Smith
ROULETTE- Eugene C. Smith, 83, of Hester Ave., passed away Thursday (Oct. 14, 2021) in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.
Born May 3, 1938, in Roulette, he was a son of Coyle and Kathryn M. Walaski Smith.
Gene was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1956. He moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 1961.
He was an architectural draftsman for a major construction company in Phoenix until he obtained his general contractors license and built custom homes. He retired and returned to the area in 2002.
He was an avid golfer and baseball fan, who briefly played in the minor leagues. He enjoyed watching college and NFL football games. He also enjoyed his crossword and soduko puzzles.
Surviving are two sons, Alan J. Smith of Whitman, AZ, Jon E. Smith of Glendale, AZ; five daughters, Marcia K. (Greg) McDiffett of Glendale, AZ, Cara D. (Dennis) Gibbons of Phoenix, AZ, Lisa R. (Bo) Lukas and Marilu T. (Mickey) Miller both of Peoria, AZ, Kristina M. May of Sarasota, FL; 28 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; longtime companion Mary Kio, of Roulette; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Eugene C. Smith, Jr., and a sister, Maxine Brown.
Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Monday (October 18, 2021) from 1-3 p.m., at the Weimer Field Pavilion, Roulette.
Memorials can be made to the Roulette Fire Dept.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
