Wellsville, NY – Eugene Cowper Ashline, 93, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 , at Highland Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 10, 1931, in Huntington, Long Island, the son of the late Eugene Joseph and Ivy Ruby (Grace) Ashline. On April 4, 1959, in Genesee, PA, he married his wife of 59 years, Audine M. Say, who predeceased him on April 2, 2018.

Gene was a 1947 graduate of Highland Springs High School in Highland Springs, VA. He continued his education at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, earning his BSME in 1953. He found his career in the Worthington Corporation, beginning in Harrison, NJ , and a fter participating in their multi-location training program, he was assigned to their Steam Turbine Division in Wellsville. He remained with Worthington, and their successor companies, for 40 years, att a ining the position of Engineering Manager – Standard Products before retiring from Dresser-Rand Corp. in 1993 . Outside of his employment, he followed his long-standing interest in railroad equipment, operations, facilities, and history by being a member of the National Railway Historical Society’s Niag ara Frontier Chapter in Ton awanda. Additionally , he was a member of the Stannards United Methodist Church for 58 years, singing in their choir, until their closure in 2017 , from 2018 until his passing, he attended the Allentown United Methodist Church.

He is survived by a brother, Ronald Clive Ashline of Oak R idge, TN; a nephew, Peter Cowper Ashline of Signal Mountain, TN; and a niece, Debra S ue Horn, of Lexington, KY .

Friends are invited to call on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am a t the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville, 34 West State Street. The funeral will follow at 11:00 am , in the funeral home with Celebrant Kathy Timpano presiding. The burial will be next to his wife , in Genesee Cemetery.
