Eugene M. BUTTON

Eugene M. BUTTON, 91, of Tioga, PA, died Saturday, December 14, 2024 in UPMC Soldiers & Sailors, Wellsboro. 

Born May 21, 1933, in Tioga, he was the son of Forrest and Bernice Whitney Button. A Korean War Veteran, he served honorably with the U.S. Army from 1953 – 1955 in France and Germany. On January 18, 1967, in Tioga, he married the former Ruth E. Blackman Osterhoudt, who predeceased him on June 25, 2023. He was employed by Corning Glass Co. for many years, retiring in 1991. 

Surviving are: six children, Deborah (Donald) Warriner of Tioga, Inza Campbell of Sligo, Darlene (Joe) Stevens of Elmira NY, Bill (Sue) Thomas of Bristol, RI, Scott (Lisa) Gleason of Tioga, and Terry Gleason of Tioga; four step-sons, Wayne (Mary) Osterhoudt of Westfield, Curtis Osterhoudt of Tioga, David Osterhoudt of Nashville, TN, and Robert (Laurie) Whipple of Lawrenceville; two step-daughters, Nancy Malinak of Lock Haven and Martha Warren of Austin; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Button of Corning, NY; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Rodney Button; three brothers, Lester Button, Kenneth Button, and Lyle Button; two sisters, Ruthadel Hungerford and Alcena Shelman; and a step-son, Thomas Osterhoudt.  

A gathering to celebrate Eugene’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Herbert Lee Webster American Legion Post #235, 18536 Rte. 287, Tioga, PA 16946. Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Tioga County Honor Guard. Following a brief service, light refreshments will be served. 

Cremation was at OLNEY-FOUST Private Crematory.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Tioga.
