Elizabeth “Betty” Glase
PORT ALLEGANY- Elizabeth M. “Betty” Glase, 98, formerly West Vine St., passed away Wednesday (Dec. 23, 2020) in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born December 21, 1922, in Canisteo, NY, she was a daughter of Marion E. and Myra B. Dean Galutia. On Jan. 15, 1944, in Angelica, NY, she married Charles S. Glase, who died Dec. 16, 1989.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Canisteo Central School District, class of 1940.
She was employed with First National Bank, Port Allegany, for 32 years, before retiring in 1988.
Mrs. Glase was a member of the United Methodist Church, Port Allegany, where she held various offices with the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the church’s Anna Oral Circle of quilters and was an assistant church organist. She was a past member of the Passion Play Choir, Coudersport Consistory.
Surviving is a daughter, Linda J. (Norman) Clark of Port Allegany; 3 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grand-children; a brother, Theodore D. (Jean) Galutia of Wellsville, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, a son, Robert C. Glase, a brother, Irving D. Galutia, and a sister, Jean E. Green.
Due to the social pandemic, there will be a private visitation. Friends are invited to attend a graveside service Monday (Dec. 28, 2020) at 11 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany, with Rev. Matt Howe, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating.
Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Church, Port Allegany, or S.W. Smith Library, Port Allegany.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
