Eleanor Payne ROBBINS, 91, formerly of Westfield, PA, entered eternal life on March 31, 2016.
Born April 4, 1924 in Corning, NY, she was the daughter of Clarence and Esther Bennett Payne. On July 26, 1953, she married Mason J. Robbins, who predeceased her on June 14, 2006. They shared 53 years together, their lives revolving around their family and church.
Surviving are: a son, Donald (Mary Rita) Robbins of Andalusia, PA; two daughters, Jeanne (Albert) Ream of Mifflintown, PA and Janice Robbins of Schwenksville, PA; seven grandchildren, Jared Robbins, Alison Ream Brayford, Kyle Ream, Zachary Robbins, Katelyn Ream Frontz, Lindsay Robbins, and Chelsay Robbins Lewis; great-grandchildren, Halle and Vivia Ream, William and Henry Brayford, and Jaxson Robbins; as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she held dear. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Donald, Douglas, and C. Richard Payne; and a sister, Helen Payne Decker.
Eleanor graduated in 1942 from Hammondsport Central High School and in 1945 from Nyack Missionary Institute. As a girl growing up in Hammondsport, she spent her days swimming in Keuka Lake and playing in the glens near her family cottage. Eleanor worked alongside her husband as a custodian for Commonwealth Bank & Trust and was also known to help him scrape and paint a house or two. She was a member of the Westfield Wesleyan Church, Women's Missionary Society, and WCTU. She taught Sunday school and enjoyed visiting in local nursing homes.
Friends may call at the Wesleyan Church, Westfield, PA on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, with Funeral Services following at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Duane Burdick will officiate. Committal services and burial will be in North Bingham Cemetery immediately following funeral. A luncheon will be provided at the Ulysses Fire Hall following the burial.
