Edward D. CURRY, 68, of Genesee, PA, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in the Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA. Born August 18, 1943, in Wellsville, NY, he was the son of Fred D. and Dorothy M. Granger Curry. On October 24, 1975, in Shinglehouse, PA, he married the former Lila S. Dickerson, who survives. A Vietnam War Veteran, he served honorably with the US Army from 1964 -- 1965. He was employed by ABB Air Preheater in Wellsville, NY for 11 years. Ed was a member of the Genesee United Methodist Church, the Genesee Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company, serving as Chief, President, Captain, radio operator, and ambulance driver, and a life member of the Southwestern Firemen's Association. He served as girls softball coach in Whitesville, NY for several years and as a baseball umpire for all age levels. Surviving besides his wife, Lila, are: two sons, Robert (Tracey) Nelson of Genesee and Scott (Christie) Curry of Evans, GA; a daughter, Jo Ann (Todd) Phillips of Genesee; six grandchildren, Deven Phillips, Mandy Slawson, Ryan Slawson, Conner Phillips, Emma Nelson, and Cameron Curry; a brother, Kenneth Curry of Wellsville; two sisters, Marilyn (Louis) Swarthout of Tampa, FL and Betty Sheard of Wellsville; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Richard Curry; and two sisters, Joyce Darling and Marge McGlier. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 19, 2011 in the Genesee United Methodist Church. The Rev. Deborah L. Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville, NY, where Military Rites will be accorded.
