Doris Jean BROWN, 80, of Scio, NY, died Monday, May 24, 2021 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
Born June 7, 1940, in Brockway, PA, she was the daughter of Thornton K. and Margaret Petruzzi Taylor. On November 30, 1957, in Niagara Falls, she married Jack E. Brown, who predeceased her on July 29, 2020.
She was employed as a waitress at Pilgrim’s Landing in Niagara Falls. Doris Jean and Jack owned the Village Coffee Shop in Wellsville from 1969 – 1978. She then owned and operated her own dog grooming and breeding business in her home which evolved into owning several Petland pet stores from 1979 - 2021, with Wellsville being the main location. In addition to the pet stores, Jean also ran a hair salon, Jeannie's Affordable Hair Care, in the late 80's. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville and a former member of the Women’s Business Association.
Surviving are: two daughters, Kathaleen (William Baker) Pierce of Arkport and Cynthia (Ronald Sr.) Fracasse of Parksville; a son, Jack Brown Jr. of Scio; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine (Maurice) Oshier of Melbourne, FL and BettyJane (John) Connor of Dothan, AL, nieces and nephews; her friends and caregivers, Yvonne and Dennis Coppinger of Scio; and longtime friend, Carol Thacher Sherwood of Wellsville.
Friends may call at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Cremation, Crowell Chapel, 296 North Main Street, Wellsville, NY 14895 on Sunday, May 30, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 4:00 PM. Rev. Carl Kemp will preside. CDC and NYS Department of Health guidelines apply. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wellsville.
