PORT ALLEGANY- Donna M. VanSickles, 77, of Pearl St., passed away Monday (Nov. 8, 2021) in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA.

Born June 7, 1944, in Roulette, she was a daughter of Lewellyn and Grace Chase Sherwood.  On Oct. 20, 1963, in Roulette, she married Darrel F. VanSickles, who survives.

Donna was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, class of 1962.

She had been employed with Cole Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide, had done housekeeping for the Moose Lodge 460, Port Allegany, and most recent, was employed with Sheetz, Port Allegany, for 9 years, before her retirement.

She attended the First Baptist Church, Port Allegany.

Donna enjoyed craft shows and sitting on her porch with Darrel, watching the local neighborhood.

Surviving are four sons, Darrel F. VanSickles, II, of Columbus, OH, Michael P. (Melinda) VanSickles of Groveport, OH, Tood L. VanSickles of Lewis, Run, Timothy A. (Rae)     VanSickles of Cortland, NY; 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie (Jesse) Hooftallen of Emporium; two brothers, Dennis Sherwood of N.C., Thomas Sherwood of Coudersport, stepson, Perry (Sally) Hanchett of Port Allegany; two sisters, Daine Metzler of Darlington, PA, Debbie Montes of Fontanelle, IA; several nieces and nephews, extended family, numerous friends, & special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers: Kenneth and Dick Sherwood, Jeff Holiday, David and Brian Hanchett; and a sister, Gloria Knauer.

There will be a celebration of life to be held at a later time and date to be announced.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
