Donald E. CHAPMAN

Donald E. CHAPMAN, 96, of Mills, PA, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in his home.  

Born May 25, 1927, in Belvidere, NY, he was the son of Anson Daniel and Margaret Hile Chapman.  On December 24, 1950, in West Bingham, he married the former Norma L. Patterson, who predeceased him on December 24, 2020.  A World War II Veteran, he served honorably with the U.S. Navy from July 31, 1944 – February 9, 1950 in the Pacific Theatre.  He was employed by Penelec for 33 years, retiring in 1987.  Don was a life member of Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963 in Ulysses and Howard S. Lines VFW Post #6753 in Knoxville.  

Surviving are:  three children, Charlinda (Elery Jon Walizer) Collins of Pennsdale, Mary (Kevin) Fish of Knoxville, and Keith Chapman of Mills;  five grandchildren;  ten great-grandchildren;  a great-great-granddaughter;  a sister, Sharon (John) Johnson of Aberdeen, WA;  a brother, C. Lance (Linda) Chapman of  Pendleton, OR;  nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Dane A. Chapman;  and a sister, Joan B. Artlip.  

A private graveside service will be in Ulysses Cemetery.  Pastor Harold Kiel will officiate.  Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard.
