Delbert E. Mattison
PORT ALLEGANY- Delbert E. Mattison, 93, of Maple St., passed away Saturday (Nov. 14, 2015) in Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center, Smethport.
Born December 21, 1921, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Ernest G. and Mamie Hakes Mattison. On Sept. 20, 1953, in Millheim, PA, he married Freeda Georgetson, who died Oct. 10, 2004.
Delbert was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, Class of 1940, and the United States Clerical School, Ft. Logan, CO.
Mr. Mattison was a veteran of WWII, having served with the US Army Air Corp, 8th & 9th Airforce, in the European theater.
He was employed with North Penn Gas Co. in the office for 42 years, retiring in 1983.
Delbert was an EMT for 10 years with the Port Area Ambulance Service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 258, and Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 460, both of Port Allegany. He also was a man of many talents, one of his most notable, a wallpaper hanger.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey P. (Mary Ann) Mattison of Port Allegany, PA; one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Freeda, a brother, John Mattison; and a sister, Christina Mattison.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 18, 2015) with Rev. Evon Lloyd, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
