Debra Burr Novak
PORT ALLEGANY- Debra Burr Novak, 64, of Grove St. Ext., Delevan, NY, formerly of Port Allegany, passed away unexpectedly Monday (May 15, 2017) in the Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, Springville, NY.
Born September 1, 1952, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of Charles W. and Ruth D. MacFarland Burr. She was formerly married to Michael Lesher.
Debra was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, class of 1970, and Mansfield State University, in 1974, with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.
She had worked as a sales representative for Energy Equipment Control Co., Inc. of Allentown, PA, and later with Edward Jones Investments, Buffalo, NY, as a financial advisor, before her retirement.
Mrs. Novak was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Yorkshire, NY, where she taught in the church’s Christian school. She was a member of C.H.O.I.C.E.S.- Caring Hearts, Offering Information, Compassion, Encouragement, & Support, during crisis pregnancies; and volunteered at Big Dogs, Big Hearts, a dog rescue group. She loved baking Christmas cookies for local organizations & businesses; loved gardening, canning, & working on home projects with her son, Sean; but also she loved her Lord and her church family.
Surviving in addition to her son, Sean M. Lesher of Delevan, NY; are two brothers, Bruce C. (Mary) Burr and Brad K. (Karen) Burr, both of Port Allegany; and a sister, Kathy J. (Bill) Moore of Olean, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-11 a.m. Friday (May 19, 2017) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ben Phillips, pastor of the Central Baptist Church of Yorkshire, officiating. Burial will be in Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (May 20, 2017) in the Central Baptist Church, Yorkshire, NY, with Rev. Ben Phillips. pastor, officiating.
