Deborah L. SCHULTZ

April 30, 1962 — August 25, 2024

Whitesville, NY

Deborah L. SCHULTZ, nee Cain, 62, of Whitesville, NY, formerly of the Tonawandas, passed away in her home after a lengthy illness.

On June 2, 1979, she married the love of her life, Theodore W. “Ted” Schultz, who predeceased her on June 29, 2017. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her youngest son, Thomas John Schultz; her father, Charles Cain; and her brother, Charles Boehnke.

She was a daughter of Charles H. Cain and Patricia L. Nelson Dunning. Her mother survives. Also surviving are: three sons, Edmond (Carin) Schultz, Joshua Schultz, and Benjamin Schultz, all of Whitesville; her mother-in-law, Carol Schultz; grandchildren, Gabriel (Thomas) Miles, Quinn Schultz, and Madison Schultz; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Sandra Boehnke, Daniel (Michelle) Cain, Charles (Bobbi Jo) Cain, Milissa (Joe) Carmona, Timothy (Barbara) Cain, and Mary (Steve) VanEtten; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Deb devoted her life to helping others. If you needed cash, food, a place to stay or someone to talk to, Deb was there. She often put her own needs aside to help those who were struggling. Deb helped without question or judgment, often offering to “keep it between the two of us.” If you asked her for the shirt off her back, she would give it to you without hesitation.

She took great pride in “her boys” and watching them grow into men was one of her greatest pleasures. Deb was a wonderful mother who sacrificed much for the benefit of her children. She devoted her entire life to supporting her children, making sure they were happy, healthy, cared for and most importantly, loved.

Deb was an avid camper. Her favorite camping spot was Allegany State Park. Deb began camping there as a child and continued the tradition with her own family, often planning a yearly excursion for anyone who was up for it. She could be found Thursday night at the Hootenanny singing her heart out followed up by snacks and drinks around the campfire. These Allegany memories remain among the most precious to her children.

Prior to her illness, Deb enjoyed entertaining guests for the holidays. She would often invite family and friends over for Thanksgiving, Christmas or just because, preparing food for sometimes more than 20 people on her own. She always served herself last, making sure everyone had their fill and was happy prior to fixing herself a plate.

Cremation was at OLNEY-FOUST Private Crematory. At Deb’s request, there will be no service or visitation. A gathering to celebrate Deb’s life will be held on a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Cremation, Crowell Chapel, 296 North Main Street, Wellsville, NY.
