Dawn A. Lewis
PORT ALLEGANY-Dawn A. Lewis, 91, of Arnold Ave., passed away Sunday (Dec. 3, 2017) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born December 21, 1925, in Sergeant, PA, she was a daughter of Arthur H. and Lena M. McDowell Abbott. On Mar. 28, 1945, in Port Allegany, she married LaVerne D. Lewis, who died July 12, 2006. They were married 61 years.
Dawn had worked for Pierce Glass Co., and the Cameo Doll Factory both of Port Allegany, and Viko Furniture Co. (formerly Ethan Allen Co.) of Eldred, PA, before her retirement.
She was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Port Allegany, and former member of the church’s Lutheran Women and Altar Guild.
She is survived by two sons, David R. (Marlene) Lewis of Medina, OH, Rodger L. (Bonnie) Lewis of Coudersport; granddaughter, Karla (Tim) Brown of Port Allegany, and grandson, Michael (Mary Lynn) Lewis of Parma, OH; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, LaVerne, a grandson, Kevin Lewis, a brother, Raymond H. Abbott; and two sisters, Louella Matson and Evelyn Holp.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Joann Piatko, pastor of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to the Gethsemane Lutheran Church or the Port Area Ambulance Association.
