David J. Hanchett
LEWIS RUN- David J Hanchett, 65, of Beaver Dr., passed away Saturday (Feb. 21, 2015) in the Buffalo General Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
Born Jun 6, 1949, in Coudersport, he was a son of Clarence R. and Hilda May Bent Hanchett.
Mr. Hanchett was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Port Allegany High School, Class of 1967.
David was an upkeep operator working for Saint Gobain Container Co., Port Allegany, before his retirement.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam Nam Conflict, having served with the US Navy, Construction Battalion Maintenance, Unit 301.
He was a member of the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics, & Allied Workers International Union, Local 75.
Surviving are two brothers, Perry A. (Sally) Hanchett of Port Allegany, Brian K. Hanchett of Kane; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Kenneth J. Hanchett and Jeffrey L. Holiday.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 26, 2015) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. with Rev. Randall Headley, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Hill Cemetery, Port Allegany.
A military service will be conducted immediately following the funeral by the Port Allegany Honor Guard.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
