Darrell L. Hults
TURLEPOINT- Darrell L. Hults, 77, of Rock Run Rd., passed away Sunday (Apr. 16, 2017) in the Olean General Hospital.
Born Aug. 10, 1939, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Kenneth W. and Bertha H. Jackson Hults. On Dec. 17, 1960, he married Patricia A. Cole, who survives.
Darrell was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Port Allegany High School, class of 1958.
Mr. Hults was a veteran having served with the US Navy.
He was employed with Saint-Gobain Co. (now Ardagh Glass, Inc.) of Port Allegany, retiring in 2002, after 40 years of service. After retiring he continued working for Culver Bus Garage and later Muccio Bus Service both of Port Allegany.
Darrell was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Eldred. He enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons, Josh McNeil and Nickolas Maynard. He was an avid baseball and football enthusiast, especially if it included one of his grandsons. He was a Pittsburgh Steeler and Penn State football fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Patricia, are a daughter, Dawn R. (Tim) McNeil of Turtlepoint; two grandsons, a brother, Larry W. Hults of Newport Richey, FL; a sister, Jody R. Postlewait of Port Allegany; a son-in-law, Michael O. Maynard of Eldred; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lori L. Maynard, and a brother, Duane L. “Dody” Hults.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday (Apr. 20, 2017) in St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Port Allegany, with Rev. James Campbell, pastor, and Rev. Charles Schmitt, co-celebrants. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Smethport.
A scriptural wake service will be held at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to the Port Area Ambulance Service or the Star Hose Fire Dept., Port Allegany.
