Daniel C. FULLER, 86, of Wellsville, NY, died Thursday, November 23, 2023 in the Comfort House of Allegany County.  He was born in Wellsville, NY on July 29, 1937, the son of Esther Belle McElheny and Charles Daniel Fuller.  He attended Wellsville Central Schools, graduating in 1956.  Dan was on the Wellsville High Wrestling Team, winning the Section V championship in his junior year.  After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps, serving in Tengan-Okinawa, Japan, and Camp Butler, San Francisco, for a total of  four years, earning the rank of Corporal.

After military service, he returned to Wellsville and joined Scoville, Brown and Co. in the Sales Department.  On August 17, 1963, he married Sharlet (Bly) Fuller of Old Fort, OH.  The two met while working in the summer in Lakeside, Ohio and maintained close ties to that community…vacationing with their extended family there every summer after.  Shortly after that, he joined the Parts Marketing Department of Dresser-Rand Corporation, in Wellsville and remained there until retirement in 1999.  After retirement, Dan became a driver for Meals on Wheels for several years.

Daniel was active in the local Wellsville chapter of Masonic Lodge #230, rising through the chairs, achieving the 32nd degree as a York Rite Mason, and serving as elected Worshipful Master of his Lodge (as his father before him had done).  He remained a member of the Masonic order throughout his life.

He was a charter member of the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, a service which was at first located on Chamberlain Street in Wellsville.  As the need for a larger and more accommodating building grew, Dan was elected President of the organization and headed up efforts for fund raising to purchase property and build what is now the building on South Main Street in Wellsville.  Dan was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Wellsville.

Dan was active as a coach for little league baseball, soccer, and wrestling.  He was an avid sports fan.  On fall weekends you would likely find Dan watching college football on Saturdays and The Bills on Sundays.  Above all, he was an exceptionally faithful St. Bonaventure Bonnies basketball fan and season ticket holder who attended or listened to many, many games over the years.

He was a loving father, cousin and son and will be missed.

He was pre-deceased by his twin brother, David Fuller, and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sharlet Bly Fuller; and their three children, Mary S. Finocchiaro of Rochester, James D. Fuller of Wellsville, and Charles D. Fuller II of Towson, MD.  Four grandchildren survive including Daniel B. Fuller of Canandaigua, Mia Fuller of Wellsville, James Fuller, Jr. of Andover, and Vivienne Fuller of Towson, MD.

Friends may call at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Cremation, Crowell Chapel, 296 North Main Street, Wellsville on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM.  Pastor Craig Buelow will officiate.  Military Rites will be accorded by the Wellsville American Legion Honor Guard.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville.
