Claudia J. TROCANO, of Almond, formerly of Sebastopol, CA, died Monday, February 3, 2025 in UR Jones Memorial Hospital. 

Born May 6, 1953, in San Diego, CA, she was the daughter of Richard G. Johnson (Jongordan) and Marion F. Moses Johnson. 

She founded and operated Monarch Medicinals in Sebastopol, CA, where she also served as a promoter of cannabis reform and an educator on its medicinal values. 

Known as Lia, for many years she was a volunteer with the Human Awareness Institute in Santa Rosa, CA, a non-profit dedicated to holding people in love, safety, and reverence as they walk the path of exploration of what it means to be fully human. 

She was a practicing Buddhist and a member of the Soka Gakkai International, USA, a Buddhist organization devoted to spreading peace, humanism, and global citizenship through the principles of Nicheren Buddhism and is committed to dialogue and nonviolence based on the conviction that individual happiness and the realization of peace are inextricably linked. 

Lia was a lover of cultural and personal expressions of humanity, of nature’s beauty, and photography. She shared many unique and breathtaking images, videos, and movies to remind us of the beauty that we are all a part of.

Surviving Lia are: two daughters Rachel Trocano of Almond and Alaina Trocano of North Fort Myers, FL; three sisters, Cidnee Lusk of Goodyear, AZ, JoJo Youngs of Kailua, HI, and Pamela Ellis of Santa Maria, CA; two stepbrothers Ken Mehler of Walnut Creek, CA and Brian Mehler of Long Beach, CA; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Katherine Woolley.
