Charles P. HOOFTALLEN, 74, of St. Marys, PA, formerly of Emporium, Ulysses, and Austin, died Monday, June 20, 2022 in Penn Highlands, Dubois.
Born July 27, 1947, in Scranton, he was the son of Elias Charles and Eva M Sabetine Hooftallen, Jr. Raised in Austin, he attended Austin High School and later went on to earn his GED. He was employed by Westfield Tanning Co. and APS in St. Marys. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing canasta, watching western movies, and listening to oldies music. Chuck was a conversationalist over coffee, socializing with anyone who would listen, banter, or joke around. He loved to make people laugh and be the center of attention. He collected coins, Elvis memorabilia, Coca-Cola memorabilia, and Native American items. Chuck cherished time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Surviving are: two daughters, Evelyn (Jerry) Shrubb of Ridgway and Heather (Mark) Farren of Emporium; five grandchildren, Zoe (Jed) Haas of Emporium, Ariel Farren of Emporium, Blaine Farren of Emporium, Trisha Kossman of Port Allegany, and Terry Kossman of Emporium; his step-mother, Janis Hooftallen of Earlville, NY; ten siblings, Perry (Sue) Hooftallen of Roulette, Evelyn Sebatine of Meadville, Thomas Burgett, Sr. of Hermitage, Paul (Tammy) Burgett of Emporium, David (Carrie) Burgett of Emporium, Esther Hooftallen of Earlville, NY, Francis (Cheryle) Burgett, Jr. of North Tonawanda, NY, Robert (Bridgette) Burgett of Olean, NY, Roger (Vanessa) Burgett of Gardeau, and Dana (Alice) Burgett of Austin; nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-father, Francis Burgett; and four sisters, Cynthia Hooftallen, Anita Burgett Henderson, Virginia “Ginny” Burgett Gribble, and Judy Burgett Hooftallen.
A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Cameron County Fairgrounds, Emporium.
