Charles Eugene BLEDSOE, 75, of Scio, NY, died Tuesday, December 10, 2024 in Robert Packer Hospital Sayre, PA, following a short illness.
Born January 30, 1949, in Wellsville, he was the son of Eugene Elijah and Lois Velma Harris Bledsoe. Chuck, as he was known, loved deer, coyote and coon hunting. He was a lifetime member of the Whitesville Fire Dept., spending many years heading up the demolition derby at the Allegany County Fair. He participated as a driver in other derbies in the area. Chuck enjoyed watching NASCAR and football, especially the New England Patriots. In recent years following Covid, he loved watching his grandkids play school sports through livestream. Chuck truly loved the game of baseball and shared this knowledge by coaching Little League and Senior League for several years. He loved to work with wood, enjoying it for the pleasure of making gifts and selling his product. He was a hardworking man, often holding several jobs at a time. He was a meat cutter by trade working for Shay's Grocery in Whitesville, Bells in Wellsville, and most of his trade by Giant Food Mart in Wellsville. He spent many years as a Dog Control Officer in Whitesville, Andover, and Willing.
He is survived by a very special younger sister who always tried to keep him in line, Vickie L. Scott of Whitesville; a daughter, Melissa (Chris) Estep of Whitesville; a son, Scott (Jasmine) Bledsoe of Whitesville; seven grandchildren, Hailey (Joshua) Munro, Clarissa (Kylen Zengerle) Richmond, Autumn (Phil) Moore, Christopher James “CJ” Estep Jr., Kennedy Bledsoe, Stella Bledsoe, and Harper Bledsoe; a great-grandson, George Christopher Munro; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie L. Erdmann.
Cremation was at Olney-Foust Private Crematory. A gathering to celebrate Chuck’s life will be held on a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Whitesville Fire Department or the Independence Emergency Squad.
