Charles R. BARKER, 90, of Ulysses, PA, died Saturday, January 11, 2014 in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, PA. Born August 23, 1923, in North Bingham, PA, he was the son of Arling M. and Rosa Howe Barker. On November 17, 1948, in Coudersport, PA, he married the former Edith R. Ahearn, who predeceased him on March 9, 2010. He was a farmer for many years and retired from PennDOT as an equipment operator in 1985. Charles was a member of St. Bibiana Catholic Church in Galeton, Ulysses Grange, life member of the Tri-Town Volunteer Fire Company in Ulysses, and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Genesee, PA. Surviving are: five sons, Reuben E. (Joanne Gielow) Barker of Buffalo, NY, Roger (Jeanette) Barker of Ulysses, Ronald (Diane) Barker of Manassas, VA, Russell (Cheryl) Barker of Inwood, WV, and Richard (Carmen) Barker of Mills; two daughters, Rebecca (Bruce) Lundy and Robin (Dan) Baker, both of Ulysses; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, George H. (Rosella) Barker of Genesee; two sisters, Vivian Cornell of Genesee and Aurelia Moser of Wilcox, AZ; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Marie Lent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Wednesday in Sacred Heart Church, Genesee, PA. The Rev. Joseph V. Dougherty will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
