Bruce C. Galford
PORT ALLEGANY- Bruce C. Galford, 85, of S Main St., passed away Monday (Sept. 19, 2011) in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
Born October 1, 1925, in Marlinton, WV, he was a son of Henry G. and Lucy V. Waugh Galford. On Feb. 5, 1972, in Eldred, he married Carol R. Shelley, who survives.
He was a longtime resident of the area coming from West Virginia. He was a graduate of Marlinton High School, Marlinton, WV.
Mr. Galford was a self-employed logging contractor before his retirement.
He was a member of the Keating Summit Methodist Church.
He was a member of American Association of Retired Persons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and most outdoors activities. He also enjoyed watching football.
Surviving besides his wife, Carol, are a son, Bruce C. Galford, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA; two daughters, Marie (Robert) Haefner of Winfield, PA, and Abby Galford of Port Allegany; three granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Laura and Erica Haefner; a brother, French G. Galford of Bushnell, FL; five stepsons, Donovan (Mary) McLaughlin of Keating Summit, PA, Dennis (Connie) Wilfong, Ronald (Tina) Wilfong, Robert Wilfong all of Port Allegany, William (Sharon) Wilfong of Rockland, IL; a stepdaughter,
Debra (Marlin) Appleby of Port Allegany; several step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Denny Galford, Elza Galford, and Paul Galford; and a sister, Wilma Yorns.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 22, 2011) with Rev. J.T. Madison, pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Port Allegany, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
