Billie Coy HOWELL

Billie R. Coy HOWELL, 52, of Wellsville, NY, died Monday, April 3, 2023 in St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, PA.  

Born December 22, 1970, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Arnold C. and Helen P. Armstrong Coy.  In 1993, she married Michael D. Howell, who survives.  A 1989 high honors graduate of Wellsville Central School, she earned an associate’s degree in elementary education from Alfred State College.  She also attended SUNY Oswego, studying elementary education.  Billie was employed by Ames in Wellsville, Wellsville Manor, and Wellsville Central School as a substitute teacher.  She home-schooled her two children.  Excelling in crafts, she enjoyed working with jewelry, resin, and scrapbooking.  Billie was a member of Yorks Corners Mennonite Church.  She loved her children immensely and cared for her nieces and nephews like they were her own.  

Surviving besides her husband, Michael, are:  two children, Adam Howell and Amy Howell;  a brother Matthew (Consuelo) Coy of Wellsville;  two sisters, Caroline (James) Hubbard of Wellsville and Angela (William) Cunningham of SC;  a special sister, Dawn Schoenthal of Poca, WV;  two aunts, Sharon (Les) Balch of Wellsville and Paula Borden of Centralia, IL;   nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents;  and paternal grandparents, Walter “Skip” and Edna Coy.  

Friends may call at Yorks Corners Mennonite Church, 3350 County Road 29, Wellsville, NY on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, with a Memorial Service following at 1:00 PM.  Pastor Matt Havens will officiate.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville.
