Beverly A. Gordon
PORT ALLEGANY - Beverly A. Gordon, 72, of Pearl St., passed away Friday (Aug. 17, 2012) in the Charles Cole Mem. Hospital, Coudersport.
Born October 3, 1939, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of Ross H. and Alice Barto McAlpine. On Sept. 23, 1958, in Roulette, PA, she married James D. “Slim” Gordon, who survives. They were married 53 years.
Mrs. Gordon was a longtime resident of the area and graduated from Port Allegany High School, Class of 1956.
She had been employed by Ethan Allen Furniture Co. of Eldred, and was a self-employed housekeeper for many years.
She was a member of the Port Allegany Senior Center and the 50 Plus Club, Allegheny Mountain Engine & Implement Association, Port Allegany; and was an avid bingo player, camper and traveler.
Surviving in addition to her husband, James, are two sons, Michael J. (Linda) Gordon and John W. Gordon, both of Port Allegany; a daughter, Julie A. Bond, of Lone Jack, MO; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Christian J. Bee, and a sister, Marjorie Hawver.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, (Aug. 22, 2012) with Rev. H.D. Youngblood, Jr., officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Memorials can be made to the S.W. Smith Library or the Port Area Ambulance Service.
