Bernard R. HAMILTON, 94, of Painted Post, NY, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Taylor Health Center, Bath, NY. Born October 3, 1921, in Bingham Township, Ulysses, PA, he was the son of Loren D. and Myrtle M. Bartoo Hamilton. He was a 1939 graduate of Ulysses High School. A World War II Veteran, he served honorably with the US Army Air Force in the European Theatre. On July 23, 1947, in Ellisburg, PA, he married the former Betty Downey, who predeceased him on November 23, 2009. He was employed as a broadcast technician at WHDL in Olean from 1949 - 1958 and at WCLI in Corning, NY from 1958 - 1985. Bernard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Painted Post and the Corning American Legion. He was an avid ham radio operator (K2AWH), enjoyed many hobbies, including photography, reading, arrowhead hunting, and coin collecting. He especially enjoyed visiting with his many caregivers and visitors from the VA home service. Surviving are: three daughters, Connie Hamilton of New Britain, CT, Sharon (David) Sadler of Vernon, CT, and Pamela (James King) Folmar of Corning, NY; two sons, Dennis Hamilton and David (Lacinda) Hamilton, both of Painted Post; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Doris Kelly of Waynesboro, PA and Sharon Downey of Ulysses; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, D. Blair Hamilton and William K. Hamilton; and a son-in-law, Michael DeLorenzo. Friends are invited to join the family 5:00 PM, Friday, October 30, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Painted Post for a light luncheon and to share memories. Friends may call at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA, on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 1:00--3:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 3:00 PM. The Rev. James Ketcham will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard.
