Barbara A. VanDerhoof, 81, of Pinckney, MI, one of the Great Saints, was called home by her Heavenly Father as she slept in the early morning hours on Friday, September 16, 2016.
Born October 8, 1934, in Bradford, PA, she was the daughter of Clarence G. and Jane G. Huntington Hokenson.
On June 25, 1954, in Duke Center, PA, she married Eldon A. VanDerhoof, who predeceased her on November 30, 1995.
A graduate of Otto-Eldred High School and Buffalo Bible Institute, she was a partner in Christian ministry with her husband, who served as pastor of churches in Hickox, PA, North Bingham, PA, Bingham Center, PA, Westport, CT, and the Wayside Cross Rescue Mission in Illinois. From 1994 until 2005, she resided in Sunrise, FL, where she attended the Westgate Baptist Church in Plantation, FL. In 2005, she moved to Pinckney, MI.
All who met her were touched by the love of Christ. She was a faithful pastor's wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, kind sister, patient friend, and mighty prayer warrior, who always gave testimony of God's faithfulness, mercy, and grace.
Surviving are: three children, Nina VanDerhoof of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Eric (Lisa) VanDerhoof of Saline, MI, and Glenda (Kenneth) Recker, II of Pinckney, MI; grandsons, Kevin (Rebekah Richards), Jonathan, Matthew, and Samuel; granddaughters, Alicia, Valerie, and Olivia; great-grandsons, Eldon and Ulrik; great-granddaughter, Anastasia; two brothers, David (Jan) Hokenson of Arcade, NY and Murray (Jackie) Hokenson of Batavia, NY; a sister, Jill (Melvin) Easton of Whitesville, NY; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Christa VanDerhoof; and a sister, Patty.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 26, 2016 in the North Bingham Community Church, North Bingham, PA. Burial, with her husband, Eldon, will be in Rathbone Cemetery, Coneville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gospel Mission of South America, 1401 SW 21st Ave., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33312.
