Arloween R. Simar
TURTLEPOINT- Arloween R. Simar, 96, of Route 155, passed away Monday (Dec. 17, 2012) in Trinity House, Merritt Island, FL.
Born May 13, 1916, in Dunkirk, NY, she was a daughter of Eldred L. and Edna M. Lewis Murray. On Oct. 5, 1940, in Gibsonville, OH, she married Byron R. Simar, who died June 3, 2005.
Mrs. Simar was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Smethport High School, Class of 1935. She also attended Westbrook Academy (now Olean Business Institute) in Olean, NY. She was employed by Frisbee Insurance Co. and Pittsburgh Corning Co. as a secretary and later with the Turtlepoint School.
She attended the Turtlepoint Evangelical Church.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Regent of the Canoe Place Chapter.
Surviving are a son, Richard T. “Rick” (Vicki) Simar of Arcade, NY; two daughters, Sharleen M. (Charles) Walker of Kincaid, IL, Marilyn R. (Henry) Minneboo of Merritt Island, FL; 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Byron, two sons, Robert L. Simar and Robert C. “Pete” Simar; a daughter, Donita L. Simar; and a great-granddaughter, Lily Grace Simar.
Friends will be received from 10-1:30 p.m. Friday (Dec. 21, 2012) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Anthony Edgell, pastor of the Turtlepoint Evangelical Church, officiating. Burial will be in Annin Creek Cemetery, Turtlepoint.
