Anna J. Nasto
PORT ALLEGANY- Anna J. Nasto, 88, of E. Ransom St., passed away Saturday (Apr. 29, 2017) in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport, surrounded by her family.
Born November 6, 1928, in Wharton, PA, she was a daughter of Alonzo S. and Gertrude Dow Mahon. On Dec. 14, 1947, in Coudersport, she married Thomas J. Nasto, who died Apr. 26, 1981.
Anna was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of the Austin High School, class of 1945.
Mrs. Nasto first worked for Sylvania Co. (now GTE) formerly of Emporium, and later worked many years with the Port Allegany school district cafeteria staff, before retiring.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, Port Allegany, and the church’s women’s guild; AARP, and was an avid card player.
Surviving are three sons, Michael J. (Cheryl) Nasto of Port Allegany, Dennis J. Nasto of Bath, ME, Christopher R. (Susan) Nasto of Roulette; three grandchildren: Christopher (Angela) Nasto and Thomas (Erin) Nasto both Apex, NC, and Alyssa Nasto, Pensacola Beach, FL; three great-grandchildren: Eli & Vivian Nasto, and Declan Nasto; two brothers, Ernest (Virginia) Mahon of Cuba, NY, George (Janet) Mahon of Coudersport; two sisters, Beverly (Nathan) Luce of Prairieville, LA, Gloria (Paul) Jones of Urbana, OH; a brother-in-law, John Fowler of Austin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tom, three brothers, Leonard, Fred, and Russell Mahon; and a sister, Alma Fowler.
Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (May 3, 2017) in St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, Port Allegany, with Rev. Joann Piatko, pastor, and Rev. Nathan Luce co-officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
