Ann A. COYLE, 82, of Genesee, PA, died Thursday, January 11, 2024 in her home.
Born April 29, 1941, in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine Svendsen Arehart. On July 6, 1998, in Ulysses, she married William J. Coyle, who survives. A graduate of Mountain Lakes High School, Mountain Lakes, NJ, she earned a degree in English Literature and Secondary Education in 1963 from the University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, VA. Ann was employed as an English teacher by Immaculate Conception School in Wellsville, NY from 1980 – 1982 and by Northern Potter High School from 1982 – 2003. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Genesee and Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. Ann enjoyed gardening and reading.
Surviving besides her husband, Bill, are: two children, Seth (Christine) Hopkins and Sara (Michael Bergin) Hopkins, both of Rochester, NY; three grandchildren, Mason, Ivy, and Leo; two step-sons, William (Theresa) Coyle, Jr. and Thomas (Tracey) Coyle, both of Genesee; six step-granddaughters; 11 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Linda) Arehart of Georgetown, KY; three nieces; and a close-knit and extensive network of friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Genesee. The Rev. Joseph V. Dougherty will be the Celebrant. Following the service, everyone attending is invited to join the family for a meal in the parish hall next door to the church.
